Aaron is, in different places, said to be the older brother of Moses (Exod 6:20) and brother of Miriam (Exod 15:20).
Aaron is famous for three things:
1. He is chosen by God to be Moses’ spokesperson before Pharaoh (Exod 4:10-17; and as a prophet in 7:1). However, in practice Moses does most of the speaking.
2. He is the first High Priest (Exod 28:1-10; Lev 8-9).
3. But he shows his weakness when, during Moses’ absence on Mount Sinai, he succumbs to the Israelites’ pressure to make a golden calf to represent God (Exod 32:1-6).
Exodus-Deuteronomy mention Aaron’s activities.
