Leah is first-born daughter of Laban (the son of Nahor and brother of Jacob’s mother, Rebekah) and elder sister of Rachel. When Jacob asked Laban to let him marry Rachel in return for seven years of shepherding, Laban gave Leah instead. Laban gave his maid Zilpah to Leah.
Leah gave birth to six sons and one daughter for Jacob: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. The daughter was youngest, her name was Dinah.
To get more children for Jacob, Leah gave her maid Zilpah to Jacob, so Gad and Asher were born.
