Professor Michael Fox

Weinstein-Bascom Professor Emeritus of Jewish Studies and Jay C. and Ruth Halls-Bascom Professor Emeritus of Hebrew, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Professor Fox was Lecturer then Professor in Bible and Egyptology at the Hebrew University from 1977-84 and since 2010 has been Emeritus Affiliate Professor at the University of Haifa. He began teaching at the University of Wisconsion in 1977. He was President of the National Association of Professors of Hebrew from 2003-2005, and since 2000 has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Jewish Research. He was Vice-President of  SBL 2016 and President in 2017.  His research focused on Wisdom Literature, with books on Proverbs and Qoheleth, and some other topics, with books on the Song of Songs and Esther. He is currently writing a commentary on Job for the OTL.
