Professor Johannes C. de Moor
Professor Emeritus of Semitic Languages and Cultures of the Ancient Near East at the Protestant Theology University of Amsterdam (formerly Kampen)
Professor de Moor (b.1935) served as Lecturer of Semitic Languages and Cultures of the Near East at Protestantse Theologische Hogeschool (Kampen) from 1961-71, and as Professor from 1971-2000. He is internationally known for his analyses of biblical and Canaanite poetry, his interaction with the cultures of the ancient Near East and Greece, his studies about the roots of monotheism, his novel interpretation of Genesis 1-3, and his studies of the prophets.
